Early Years
Our Religious Education curriculum begins in the Early Years Foundation Stage where children begin to learn about religions, faith and beliefs. In Nursery we focus on experiences through key religious festivals linked to our community and some Christian stories to expose them to the teaching of the Bible. In Reception children will encounter Christians and people of other faiths, as part of their growing sense of self, their own community and their place within it.
Key Stage 1
In Key Stage 1, children continue to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of religious beliefs and practices through learning about Christians, Muslims and Jewish people.
Key Stage 2
During Key Stage 2, pupils are taught knowledge, skills and understanding about religions and worldviews through learning about Hindus and deepening their understanding of Christians, Muslims and Jewish people.
Throughout the whole school curriculum there are three strands of Believing, Expressing, and Living. These are identified and built upon from Early Years to Year 6, ensuring they are revisited within each Key Stage to support learners to embed to long term memory. As a Church school, we have ensured that we are teaching about Christianity through the identified and sequential concepts of Creation/Fall, Incarnation, Gospel, Salvation, God, People of God, and Kingdom of God.
