At St Luke’s we want all of our pupils to have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of opportunities and experiences of music throughout their school career. We believe that all children should have the listen to music in its many forms, experience playing different musical instruments, and perform to audiences through singing and instrumentation.

We will provide opportunities that enhance a child’s awareness of their own strengths and abilities as a musician, and support them to see that music is an ongoing life-journey. We want our children to leave St Luke’s understanding the value of music and how music is able to enrich their lives.

The children will gain a good understanding of what music is through listening, appraising, singing, playing instruments, creating music, performing, and evaluating.
