Religious Education

at St Luke's CE Primary School

As a Church of England school, Religious Education has a unique role; it is a high priority within our curriculum.  We promote an environment where all children feel known, accepted and valued as individuals, where our Christian faith affects not only what we teach, but also how we teach.

At St Luke’s CE Religious Education is an important subject and links well to our school Christian Ethos. Our carefully planned curriculum enables pupils to explore and understand a range of religions and world views appreciating diversity, continuity and change within the religions and worldviews being studied. We want our children to be able to investigate key concepts and questions of belonging, meaning, purpose and truth. We want pupils to explore their own religious, spiritual and philosophical ways of living, believing and thinking.

As a Church of England school Christianity is at the heart of our teaching, learning and way of life. Our expectation is that pupils will be able to give a theologically informed and thoughtful account of Christianity as a living and diverse faith. We want pupils to have an informed and respectful attitude to religions and no religious world views.
